One afternoon, years ago, as I sat down to lunch with some friends, one of my dining companions asked that I keep an eye out for someone she was expecting. We ate, and conversed, and about ten minutes later, I spotted him, entering the room. I pointed. She turned her head and identified him. She commented, and commended, flatly: "Good eye, Meriwether."
